Panthers fall to ranked Texas A&M

BOX SCORE
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies scored five runs in the first inning and improved their undefeated record to 22-0 Tuesday with an 11-2 win over Prairie View A&M.

The Panthers fell to 7-12 on the season and saw their non-conference winning streak snapped.

The Aggies batted around in the first inning and gave their pitching staff enough of a lead to work with. Brigham Hill started and pitched four and one-thirds innings, striking out six and giving up two runs.

Ty Schlottmann pitched one and two-thirds innings of relief to get the win, improving to 2-0 on the year. Prairie View A&M's Edward Robledo pitched six innings for the Panthers, striking out two batters and giving up eight runs – five of them earned – in a losing effort.

Cody Den Beste went 2-for-4 with a triple to lead the Panther bats. He knocked a triple in the third inning off Hill, a later came home on Walter Wells' RBI groundout.

Kevin Lahaie added to his recent hitting streak with an infield single in the top of the fifth inning. He later came home on a wild pitch to make the score 6-2.

Wells, Prairie View A&M's best hitter, went 0-for-2 in the game, which ended his 12-game hitting streak. He did, however, draw three walks to extend his 26-game on-base streak that dates back to last season.

The Panthers return to action Friday when they began a three-game series at Incarnate Word in San Antonio. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
