PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers picked up their second win of the season Sunday, defeating Texas–Permian Basin in an exciting 4-3 contest.
The Lady Panthers recovered from losing the doubles point by winning four of the six singles matches.
Shaddae Findley and
Timara Maxwell pushed the Lady Panthers to the requisite four points with wins in flights five and six, respectively. Findley defeated Sydney Holdampf 6-3, 6-1, while Maxwell defeated Megan Greene by the opposite score, winning 6-1 and 6-3.
Stacey Lackey also needed only two sets to take her singles point, winning 6-2, 6-3 over Andrea Villalobos in flight three. In flight one,
Neharika Rama fought back from a 2-6 loss in the first set to Lisa Roslanova, winning the next two sets by scores of 6-3 and 6-0.
In doubles play, Maxwell teamed with
Trinity Randolph for a 6-3 win over Villalobos and Kaleigh Smith in flight two. Rama's long win was preceded by a long doubles match, as she and Lackey were edged 7-6 by Roslanova and Fernanda Orona in flight one.
Though their match didn't factor into the official score, Findley and
Tatiana Ruhl rolled to a 6-0 doubles win over Krissy Chavez and Sofia Ochoa.
The Lady Panthers will return to action Friday when they visit the University of Houston. Their next home game is Tuesday, Feb. 23, when they host Texas A&M–Corpus Christi for a 2 p.m. match.
