"I appreciate everything they have done for this program," said Prairie View A&M head coach
Willie Simmons of the seniors. "When I took this job three years ago, these guys didn't know me from Adam. They could have easily rebelled, and a lot of them could have left the program, but they all stuck it out and tried to buy into what we are trying to build here. They've seen their share of success, and they've seen their share of disappointment, but through it all they've tried to stay true to who we say we are."
Â
The Panthers are coming off a heartbreaking 37-31 loss at Southern last week. Redshirt freshman
Neiko Hollins threw multiple touchdown passes in his third straight start, tossing three touchdown passes while passing for 242 yards. In three starts, Hollins has thrown for more than 650 yards with eight touchdowns passes and only one interception.
Â
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-7, 1-4) has played better than its record, having lost five in a row with all those games decided late in the fourth quarter. KeShaw Williams is third in the SWAC rushing yards (667) and tied for first in touchdowns (seven). Quarterbacks Brandon Duncan, LeEarl Patterson, and Marcus Terrell have all seen playing at the position this season.
Â
"They are doing a really good job of formationing, and getting their playmakers the ball," said Simmons. "The running back is running really well right now. They have a three-headed monster at quarterback. All three of those guys are very dynamic, and are all capable of making plays throwing as well as with their legs, and they are playing with a lot of confidence right now. Our last game, we didn't play very well defensively. The last game they played, they played pretty well offensively. So, they won't be intimidated by us. We'll surely get their best shot."
