SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Prairie View A&M University women's basketball team will continue its road schedule at the face Texas State Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Strahan Coliseum.

Saturday's game will mark only the 11^th meeting between the two teams.  The teams met last season at the William J. Nicks Baby Dome, with the Lady Panthers coming out on top 64-60 behind 20 points from Dominique Newman.
  
The Lady Panthers fell to #18 Texas A&M 98-70 in their last outing Tuesday.  Leading scorer Shala Dobbins led the team with 19 points, and is second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference averaging 21.7 ppg.  Jordyn Penniman scored 13 points and is second on the team averaging 16 ppg.
 
Texas State will be entering Saturday's contest with a 4-1 overall record.  In the Bobcats' last contest, they defeated Fresno State 76-59 at Strahan Coliseum.  Taeler Deer is leading the Bobcats in scoring averaging 18.8 ppg.  In the game against the Lady Panthers last season, she led both teams in scoring posting 24 points.  Thosua Leavitt is the second leading scorer for Texas State and she is averaging 17.2.
 
"Texas State is a good team and they are playing really well right now," said PVAMU head women's basketball coach Ravon Justice.  "They rely heavily on their guards to score the basketball.  Although this road game will be a challenge, I love our chances.  When we played Texas A&M, we scored the ball really well and played hard. We've also had two really good practices, so I am excited about this opportunity."
