BASEBALL OPENS HOME, SWAC SCHEDULE AGAINST TEXAS SOUTHERN The Prairie View A&M University baseball team opens its home and Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule in a three-game weekend series against archrival Texas Southern beginning Friday at 3 p.m. at Tankersley Field.
 
Season tickets are on sale for PVAMU baseball and softball at pvpanthers.com/homerun. The Panthers (3-13) posted a pair of wins Tuesday at Arlington Baptist before falling Wednesday night at #20 Houston.
 
Nathan Carter leads the Panthers with a .394 average in 12 games with 10 starts. The Panthers and Tigers split their six meetings last season.
 
SOFTBALL TO PLAY TWO AT HOUSTON Coming off a Wednesday doubleheader sweep, the Prairie View A&M Lady Panther softball team will play at doubleheader at 1 p.m.
 
The Lady Panthers (3-14) won a pair of games Wednesday at Texas A&M Corpus Christi by scores of 1 -0 and 4-2. Alyssa Garcia and Briana Knowles had hits in each game, with Laurisa Hernandez going 3-3 in the nightcap.
 
Friday's games are the final non-conference tuneup before the Lady Panthers open SWAC play at Jackson State next Friday. The home opener at the renovated PVAMU Softball Field is Monday, March 20 vs. Jarvis Christian at 1 p.m.
 
CLASS OF 2016 SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTION MARCH 24 The newest class of enshrines into the Prairie View A&M University Sports Hall of Fame will be inducted during ceremonies on Friday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Willie A. Tempton, Sr. Memorial Student Center Ballroom located on the PVAMU Campus.
 
This class of Prairie View A&M legends includes the 2009 SWAC Champion football team, the 2006 SWAC Champion volleyball team, Samuel Barner (football), Catherine Burnley (soccer), and Marvalyn Judge (basketball/softball/cheerleader).

FOOTBALL TO WRAP UP SECOND WEEK OF SPRING PRACTICE FRIDAY The PVAMU football team will wrap up its week of spring drills in a Friday morning practice at Panther Stadium.
 
Willie Simmons, who is the first Panthers head football coach to post winning seasons in his first two campaigns since 1950-51, will lead the team through a final practice before spring break next week. Football will conclude spring practice with the Purple and Gold Game Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m. at Panther Stadium.

TENNIS TEAMS IN ACTION SATURDAY IN SAN ANTONIO The Panther tennis teams will be in action Saturday in San Antonio.
 
The men will take on Our Lady of the Lake at 10 a.m., while the women's team will play at Texas San Antonio at 3 p.m.
 
The men's team will host Navy Monday at 2 p.m. at the PVAMU Tennis Courts.
 
PV RELAYS RETURN MARCH 25 The 84^th edition of the Prairie View A&M Relays Track and Field meet will run on Saturday, March 25 starting at 8 a.m. at the new PVAMU Track Stadium.
 
The field continues to grow for the event, which will feature high school, college and professional athletes.
