COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In their season opener the Prairie View A&M women's team fell 7-0 to 16th ranked Texas A&M in the first dual match of the spring season, Saturday at the George P. Mitchell Center.
"With this being our first match, it was a tough one," said head PVAMU tennis coach
Duane Williams. "This will help us to get out some nervousness for the rest of the season. Texas A&M just out played us."
In doubles play at the start of the match junior
Constanza Aranguiz teamed up with junior
Neharika Rama the duo fell to TAMU's team of Domenica Gonzalez and Eva Paalma, 6-2 at the No. 1 position. At No. 2 seniors
Shaddae Findley and
Stacy Lackey fell to 6-0 to Iulia Ivascu and Macaren Olivares with Texas A&M.
In singles finishing up their match first at the No. 2 position Lackey fell to Olivares 6-0, 6-1. At the No. 5 position Jimena Duran-Castell in her debut as a Lady Panther fell 6-0, 6-1 to Faa-Hviding. Aranguiz fell to Texas A&M's Paalma at the No. 3 position 6-0, 6-0. Findley fell at the No. 4 position to McQuaid 6-0, 6-1.
In the final match to give the Aggies their final point at the No. 1 position Rama fell to Gonzales 6-0, 6-2.
The Lady Panthers will return to action on Jan. 19 when they face Sam Houston St. in Huntsville, Texas for a 10 a.m. first set.
