HUNTSVILLE, Texas – In a Dual match with Sam Houston State the Prairie View A&M women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 contest at the McAdams Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
The Lady Panthers earned their point in singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win by newcomer
Jessica Lackey over SHSU's Rosalie Gerritsen at the No. 6 position.
Sam Houston won the doubles point to begin play and took a 1-0 lead in the match. Although the Bearkat's earned the point in doubles, the PVAMU duo of
Constanza Aranguiz and
Neharika Rama defeated Sam Houston's Carrie Casey and Mila Milanovic 6-4, to claim their doubles contest.

Jimena Duran-Castellanos was defeated by Lusine Chobanyan 6-0, 6-0 to begin singles action at the No. 5 position.
Stacy Lackey lost her sets 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 position to Bearkat's Fabienne Gettwart. Rama battled at the No. 2 position, but it wasn't enough in the 6-1, 6-4 loss to SHSU's Sahaja Yamalapalli.
Shaddae Findley at the No. 4 position fell to Milanovic of Sam Houston, 6-2, 6-2, before Casey defeatedAranguiz at the No. 3 position to earn the final point for the Bearkats with the scores of 6-1, 6-1 to end the match.
Prairie View A&M will host Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Wednesday, Jan. 24 for a 3 p.m. in their next competition.
The men's team are set to compete against Lamar on Saturday in a 2 p.m. matchup in Beaumont, Texas.
