HOUSTON – The Prairie A&M track and field completed their first day of the University of Houston Invite and Multi meet, Friday at Yoeman Field House.
The meet has been primarily to focus adjustments that need to be made when they travel to Texas Tech next week.
In the women's events today Darryian Smith and Iesha Broussard placed eighth and ninth in the Pentathlon. Brianna Robinson had a good day as she placed fourth in the pole vault jumping 3.55 meters. Alicia Carter grabbed second place in the B section; finishing with 26.10.
On the men's side, Tristen Ham and Sunne Weem are currently fourth and fifth in the Heptathlon in day one.
Both panthers will finish their competition 10 a.m., Saturday.
In the preliminaries of 60 meter dash, Samuel Omoera ran 6.84 to make it to the semifinals for Saturday. Levante Williams ran an impressive time in 5,000 meters, finishing with a time of 15:36 to finish fourth place.
The Panthers will conclude the invite Saturday, as they will look to improve their rankings within their conference. The field events start at 9 a.m., following running events at 12 noon.
