PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas –  The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team bounced back with a 69-62 first conference win over Southern with a late fourth quarter run, Wednesday night at the William J. Nicks Building.
 
The Lady Panthers came from behind with some balanced scoring and putting away some much needed free throws down the stretch.
 
Jordyn Penniman led Prairie View A&M with 13 points and four steals as the Lady Panthers snapped a 10-point deficit.  
Shala Dobbins added 10 points and four rebounds.  
Jhyrah Cobb posted a career high 14 rebounds, seven points and three blocks.
 
After a three-point play by Green to make it 51-46 Southern with 9:37 left in the game, the Lady Panthers managed to outscore the Jaguars 11-5 over the ensuing five minutes of play to take a 57-56 lead. The Lady Panthers pushed their lead to five points (62-57).  From there, Dobbins played the role of closer, scoring five points to close the game and seal the win for Prairie View A&M.
 
The Lady Panthers shot 65% from the free stripe line and the bench added 34 points in the win.   
 
Prairie View A&M will travel to Texas Southern on Saturday January 6 for a 5:30 tip at the H&PE Arena in Houston.
