PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M baseball team returns to Southwestern Athletic Conference play as the Panthers (2-12, 0-3 SWAC) visit Arkansas-Pine Bluff (4-9, 1-2 SWAC) for a key weekend series.
Game one of the three-game series will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, and game two starts at 2 p.m. Saturday. The series wraps up Sunday with a start time of 2 p.m. All games will emanate from the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex
The Panthers look to rebound from a pair of mid-week setbacks at Houston Baptist and Lamar.
Senior
Andrew Garcia is hitting .303 to lead the Panthers, having accounted for 10 hits, six runs, four extra-base hits -- three doubles and a triple – and a pair of RBI. Freshman
Brayden Johnson is tied for the team lead in RBI (seven) with junior
Andrew Paige.
Sophomore
Kellen Rogers impressed in the Panthers' last two games, making the most of his first starts of the season by reaching base in four of eight plate appearances.
The Panthers are 4-1 in their last five games versus UAPB, but dropped a 7-6 contest to the Golden Lions at the Andre Dawson Classic earlier this year.

Scouting the Golden Lions:
– The Golden Lions enter the game looking to turn around a stretch where they have dropped four of their past five games. UAPB is ranked third in the SWAC in team batting average -- .266 – and comfortably lead the league in total doubles at 28.
– Senior Nick Kreutzer is second nationally with eight doubles and leads UAPB with 13 RBI. Humberto Maldonado is off to a solid start, hitting .340 with 17 hits and 11 RBI. On the mound, the name to watch is Korey Wasson, who is 2-1 with a 3.06 ERA and 21 strikeouts on the season.
