PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team put together a late rally, falling short of a road win at Wichita State Tuesday night, 86-71.
The Panthers run was behind the shooting of
Barbara Benson who led PVAMU with a season high of 19 points.
How it Happened:
Prairie View A&M went neck and neck through the first quarter knotting the frame at 17. Prior to the intermission the Shockers took a 14 point lead into the locker room.
From there the Panthers trailed by 26 to end of the third quarter. Benson got the PVAMU going after a free throw and a three pointer cutting into the deficit. The charity strip paid off nicely for PV as they went 10-12 from the free throw line in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough as the game closed out with a jumper by
Kennedi Heard to end the context at 86-71.
Four Panthers had double figures in the match-up to include Benson's 19,
Diana Rosenthal posted 12, while
Kennedy Paul and Heard each paced the team with 11 apiece. Rosenthal lead the team with six rebounds, while
Gerlyn Smith and Heard each had five apiece.
Up Next:
The Panthers will return to the comforts of home on Dec. 1 to host Huston-Tillotson, before welcoming Southeastern Louisiana on Dec. 3, with both games set for 5:30 p.m. in the William J. Nicks Baby Dome.
