PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M baseball team fell 5-0 to McNeese State Friday evening at the Joe Miller Ballpark.

How it Happened:
Unable to get much done against McNeese starter Will Dion, it wasn't until the fifth inning that the Panthers managed their first baserunner as Christian Mendez drew a walk while McNeese led 1-0. Brayden Johnson followed with a single but Mendez was tagged out at third base. From there, the side was retired and though Panthers starter Kyle Smith held McNeese largely in check early, the game got away from the Panthers in the middle innings.

The Cowboys put up a pair of runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth. The Panthers threatened in the top of the ninth as a pair of singles by Zach Trevino and Kellen Rogers put runners on the corners with one out, but the Panthers weren't able to bring them home.

Smith was charged with the loss after 5.2 innings of work, striking out four while scattering nine hits and four earned runs.

PVAMU continues its series with McNeese tomorrow afternoon in doubleheader action. Start times are set for 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Joe Miller Ballpark.
