Panthers gear up for Wednesday night tilt at Baylor

PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M baseball team (2-10) heads to Waco to face off against Baylor for a Wednesday evening contest. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.

PVAMU News and Notes:
- PVAMU pounded out 31 runs in its series win over Southern. It was the first time since 2019 that the Panthers scored 10+ runs in consecutive games.

- Senior outfielder Xavier Jefferson is hitting .333 on the season, a strong uptick from the shortened 2020 season. He is one of three players (Brayden Johnson, Andrew Garcia) hitting .310 or better on the season.

- Sebastain Coria is hitting .363 in his last nine games. Over that span, he has four multi-hit games and has driven in seven runs with two home runs and eight runs scored.

Scouting Baylor:
- The Bears enter the mid-week on an eight-game winning streak and boast one of the deepest hitting lineups in the nation. The Bears are second in the nation in batting average, after hitting .337 through 14 games. Every player in BU's typical starting lineup is hitting .300 or better.

- Over the last eight games, the Baylor pitching staff has a combined 2.31 ERA while holding opponents to a .195 batting average.
