HARAHAN, La. – The PVAMU bowling team went 1-3 on the second day of the Colonial Lanes Classic, and now stand 10
th overall, heading into Sunday's bracket with a three best of four out of seven baker matches beginning at 8:30 a.m. The awards ceremony is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
The Lady Panthers opened the day taking on Florida A&M, loosing by a few pins 891-867. PVAMU dropped their second match in another close contest to No. 14 ranked Univ. of Maryland Eastern Shore, 978-965, with two different Lady Panthers registering 200+ games. Senior
Stephanie Vasquez led the way with 210, while freshman
Jayda Gordon had a career high of 202 debut.
PV followed game two up with a match versus UAB falling, 1,022-817. Vasquez continued her strong play registering a 214 in the contest. Game nine was a bye for PVAMU allowing them to gather a bit.
The Lady Panthers concluded the day against rival Texas Southern garnishing their only win of the day, 983-762. Vasquez led with a match high of 247, while Gordon added a 201. Freshman
Miranda Fuentes posted her best performance with a 212.
Vasquez currently sits in 12
th out of a field of almost 100 individuals. She finished the day with a 993 total pin fall averaging 198.6. Gordon had a 930 total pin fall with a 186.0 average.
With Saturday's results, the Lady Panthers now stand 3-6 in tournament play, and is in the 10
th spot heading into Sunday's bracket action. Sunday is scheduled for three rounds of playoffs, each of which will consist of three best of four out of seven baker matches beginning at 8:30 a.m. The awards ceremony is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
