HOUSTON – The Prairie View A&M University men's and women's indoor track and field teams put on incredible performances at the Robert Plat Invitational Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The men's team had strong showings in the 200m dash, 400m dash, 4x400m relay, high and triple jump. While the women's team had many teamsters finishing in the top 10 in the 60m hurdles, 200m dash, 400m dash, one-mile, triple jump, shot put, pole vault and two teams in the 4x400m relay.
Standout performances on the men's side of things were displayed by
Christion Derrick and Damon Cobbs, with fourth and fifth place finishes respectively, with times of 21.70 and 21.80 in the 200m dash. In the 400m dash, PVAMU showed dominance with second-place and third-place finishes by Damon Cobbs at 48.15 and
Camdyn Parsee running at 49.51. Junior, Stanley Hamilton had a strong showing in the triple jump, leaping to a third-place finish with a jump of 14.22m.
The incredible overall showing of the PVAMU's women's team featured
Asjah Harris having a strong finish in the 60m and 200m, placing fifth in both races.
Antwanique Kinsler placed fourth in the 400m and anchored the 4x400m relay team to fourth place. The 4x400 team featuring
Jalen Elrod, Jada Sabi,
Jade Sabir, and Kinsler just missed third-place by .17 seconds behind rival Texas Southern.
