FINAL RESULTS
The Lady Panthers led by Interim Head Coach
Erik Dixon had stellar performances at this year's 89
th PV Relays held at the Prairie A&M University Track and Field Stadium. Visiting teams included Texas Southern University, Huston-Tillotson, Philander Smith, Southwest Christian College, Paul Quinn, Pratt Community College, and Wiley College.
Although the host team the Lady Panthers finished with 248 overall points to lead TSU, who completed their efforts in second with 105 total points. Followed by Huston-Tillotson, who had 73 points, while Wiley College (34) and Philander Smith (33) were fourth and fifth respectively. Pratt Community College (26) and Southwestern Christion College (15) rounded out the University teams.
Events began on Friday, March 24th on the track where on the women's side senior
Runelda Jackson won the women's 1500m with a new stadium record time of 4:52.63,
Shelby Devereaux was third in 5:12.81 with
Naomi Davis, and
Jourdan Garnett finished fourth and fifth respectively.
In the women's 400m dash senior
Antwanique Kinsler was second with her season-opening time of 55.29 in that same race senior
Jada Sabir was fourth in 56.82, while freshman
Jasir Miller was seventh in 58.49. Sophomore,
Jalen Elrod won the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.73.
In the university women's 200m dash, Lady Panthers swept the podium with junior
Asjah Harris leading the charge in a wind-aided time of 23.57 followed by seniors
Jade Sabir at 24.32 and
Darnisha Lykes at 24.73.
In the field events freshmen, Lady Panthers Krislyn Green and
Sanai Kintchen finished first and second respectively in the women's shot put with marks of 12.09m (39'8") and 11.99m (39'4"). Kintchen also finished fifth in the women's long jump with a personal best mark of 5.46m (17'11") while Elrod took first place with an outstanding leap of 5.82m (19'2.5")
Jade Sabir finished third with a jump of 5.63m (18'5.75") sophomore
Savoria Anderson was fourth with her personal best jump of 5.51m (18'1") and freshman Demeri Duplechain finished seventh with a leap of 5.31m (17'5.25").
Senior,
Maci Guy broke the stadium record in the women's pole vault with a jump of 3.32m (10'10.75") with
Syriah Burks, Alyia Beechum, and Jordyn Hubbert rounding out the field in third, fourth, and fifth respectively.
Jada Sabir was first in the high jump with her best jump of 1.50m (4'11") with sophomore
Morgan Davila in 4
th. Davila was also third in the triple jump where Anderson finished second with a jump of 11.64m (38'2.25").
The Lady Panthers concluded competition on Saturday, March 25
th with outstanding performances in the 4x100m relay with the quartet of Sydnee Stewart, Harris, Lykes, and Kinsler winning in a stadium record 45.85 and the quartet of
Jyzmin Gray, Sabir, Sabir, and Khan finishing in second also breaking the old stadium record with their time of 46.68! Harris and Stewart were first and second respectively in the 100m dash with their time of 11.81 and 11.99 while Lykes was fourth in 12.08 senior,
Jyzmin Gray won the 100m hurdles with a season's best of 14.32 and Guy was fourth with her personal best time of 15.18. The Lady Panthers finished the two-day competition winning the 4x400m relay in stellar fashion. The team of Elrod, Kinsler, Jade, and,
Jada Sabir while bringing the crowd to its feet ran a conference-leading time of 3:44.11 ranking them 45
th in the nation. The lady panther garnered multiple first-place finishes with 17 personal best marks and eight seasons' best.
The team will resume competition next weekend at the Florida Pepsi Relays in Gainesville, Fla.
