Prairie View Falls to Southern in Nail-Biting Finish

PRAIRIE VIEW, Tx -- In an intense match between Prairie View A&M and Southern, the Panthers faced a tough loss against the Jaguars in a tight game. The game, held at the Lady Panther Soccer Field, ended with a slender margin of 0-1 in favor of the visitors. The loss dropped Prairie View's record to 1-8-1 overall and 0-1-1 in SWAC action.

How it Happened

Prairie View kept Southern U. off the scoreboard in the first half before giving up the lone goal after the break in the loss with less than a minute left in the game. Medinat Lawal led Prairie View with two saves. The Lady Panthers registered 11 shots in the loss, six of them on goal. Prairie View faced seven Southern U. shots, three of them on goal.

Despite a robust defensive performance from both sides leading to a goalless tie at halftime, the Jaguars managed to secure a solitary goal in the second half. Medinat Lawal, the Panthers' goalkeeper, put up a valiant effort between the posts, but Southern U. found a way through to clinch the victory.

Looking ahead, the Panthers are preparing to take on Jackson State University on October 13, 2024, at the PVAMU Soccer Complex. As they continue their season with a current record of 1-8-1 and a conference tally of 0-1-1, the team remains focused on capturing a much-needed win in their upcoming fixture.
