SAN ANTONIO, TX -- In their final game of the opening weekend the Prairie View A&M softball team fell 4-3 to the host team Incarnate Word.
Senior Breanna Reyna (0-2) took the loss in the circle for Prairie View A&M (0-5).
Senior Audrey Garcia led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double. Senior Biviana Figueroa put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Senior Jaylyn Davis also helped out, going 1-for-1 for Prairie View A&M with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from Figueroa, scoring freshman Jordyn Ferrandino from second base.
The Lady Panthers deficit expanded to 3-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, tying the score in the seventh inning. Davis' run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Prairie View A&M scored twice, which evened the score at 3-3. Incarnate Word then scored one time in the bottom half of the seventh to break the tie and grab the 4-3 win.
