PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Though they had plenty of opportunities, Prairie View A&M had a hard time cashing them in, leaving 11 Panthers on base in a 13-3 loss at the hands of the Texas Southern Tigers on Friday.
Junior Michael Dews (2-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (11-13, 3-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 10-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from freshman Michael Smith, scoring junior Isaac Davila from second base.
The Tigers expanded their lead to 12-1 before the Panthers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. Junior Tyran Norris came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which brought the score to 12-2 in favor of the Tigers.
Prairie View A&M kept the Tigers off the board before narrowing the gap to 12-3 in the seventh. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Texas Southern added one run to their tally on the way to a 13-3 final.
