HOUSTON, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers had a tough showing on Tuesday, falling to the Houston Cougars 7-2 despite the efforts of junior Tamera McKnight, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Senior Breanna Reyna (6-5) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (13-14) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from senior Biviana Figueroa, scoring sophomore Mia Nunez from second base.
The Panthers lost the lead they built in the first but got back on the board in the fifth trailing 6-1. Prairie View A&M scored once on an RBI single off the bat of McKnight, which tightened the Cougars lead to 6-2. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Houston added one run to their tally on the way to a 7-2 final.
