PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers rallied to score one in the seventh inning and walked it off on junior Hannah Garza's double to pick up the 7-6 win over the Pennsylvania Quakers Wednesday.
Senior Breanna Reyna (2-4) got the win out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (5-8, ). The right-hander went 4.2 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out one.
Junior Aerin Talley led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and two RBI. Senior Jaylyn Davis put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBI. Sophomore Mia Nunez also helped out, going 2-for-4 for Prairie View A&M with a triple.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Prairie View A&M plated two runs when Talley left the yard with senior Biviana Figueroa aboard.
The Panthers lost the lead they built in the second, but got back on the board in the third trailing 5-2. Davis' run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Prairie View A&M scored twice, which tightened the Quakers lead to 5-4.
Pennsylvania built their lead to 6-4 before the Prairie View A&M offense got back to work, tying the ballgame at six in the fifth. The Panthers recorded two runs off of Pennsylvania pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double from Davis.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh, when Prairie View A&M walked it off on Garza's one-out RBI double.
