PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Senior Jerrica Rojas was dealing on Saturday, tossing a four-hit shutout to lead the Prairie View A&M Panthers over the UAPB Lady Lions 9-0.

Rojas (6-3) went the distance for Prairie View A&M (28-17, 23-1), giving up four hits, walking two and striking out seven.

In the batter's box, the Panthers were paced by senior Biviana Figueroa, who went 3-for-4 on the day with two home runs and five RBI. Senior Destinee Smith put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk, and an RBI. Freshman Isabela Rodriguez also chipped in for Prairie View A&M, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

At the end of the games on Saturday, the Lady Panthers celebrated 12 seniors.  This number includes the team's equipment manager Jailya Molett.  The 11 softball seniors are #1 outfielder Audrey Garcia, #2 infielder Brandi Jurez, #3 Jerrica Rojas, #4 Mya Hall #6 Maddison Parker, #10 Bivianna Figueroa, #13 Karina Cisneros, #21 Jaylyn Davis, #24 Destinee Smith, #26 Audry Fleming and #33 Breanna Reyna.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Prairie View A&M plated two runs when Figueroa left the yard with sophomore Mia Nunez aboard.

The Panthers then tacked on runs in the second, fifth, and seventh innings, with their biggest output coming in the seventh when they scored three times. Two of those three runs scored on a two-run single off the bat of Rodriguez.
