PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Junior Jayden Williams racked up four hits to help power the Prairie View A&M Panthers past the Alcorn State Braves 20-13 on Thursday.
Junior Elijah Breeden (3-2) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (27-24, 16-9). The right-hander went 3.1 innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out one. Junior Preston Allen also made an impact on the mound for the Panthers, throwing 2.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit, with no walks and one strikeout.
In addition to his four hits, Williams had a double, a triple, two walks, and an RBI to lead the Panthers. Junior Garrison Weiss furnished a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-3 with three walks and five RBI. Junior Lee Allen also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk, and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers scored in seven different innings on the way to the win. After holding the lead two different times earlier in the ballgame, Prairie View A&M broke an 11-11 tie and took the lead for good at 13-11 in the sixth inning The big hit for the Panthers in the inning was a two-run single off the bat of Weiss.
