Carlton puts together quality performance in Prairie View A&M's 3-2 loss to Texas Southern

ATLANTA, Ga. --Despite a quality outing from sophomore Tyson Carlton, the Prairie View A&M Panthers were unable to bring home the victory on Thursday, losing to the Texas Southern Tigers 3-2.

The quality outing from Carlton was not enough for Prairie View A&M (29-26). The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on three hits, allowing four walks and striking out three.

In the batter's box, the Panthers were paced by junior Jayden Williams, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double. Senior Paul Castro put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Junior Garrison Weiss also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Prairie View A&M got on the board thanks to Castro's RBI double with two outs.

The Panthers lost the lead they built in the second, but got back on the board in the eighth trailing 2-1. Prairie View A&M scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Weiss, which evened the score at 2-2. Texas Southern then scored one time over the remaining one inning to break the tie and grab the 3-2 win.
