2/19/2025 3:16:00 PM

In an exciting development for Prairie View A&M University, four members of the Panthers' volleyball team are set to participate in the esteemed WNT Open program.

The athletes participating are D'Mya Hill and Kylee Owens, both formidable offensive hitters; Leah Lawson, a skilled setter; and Janyah Henderson, a strong middle blocker. Their exceptional performances this season has led them to participate in this development program and highlights their outstanding skills and contributions to the Panthers' volleyball success.

These talented players will attend a selective training session from February 21-23 at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. This event is part of a broader initiative by USA Volleyball to scout and develop players for national competitions, including the 2025 Volleyball Nations League, Pan American Cup, and NORCECA Final Six. Additionally, age-group teams such as the Women's U21 and Girls U19 will participate in their respective Pan American Cups and FIVB World Championships. Notably, this year introduces a U23 national team, set to train and compete internationally, offering a new pathway even in the absence of the Women's Collegiate National Team.

The selections for these Panthers' athletes offer a unique opportunity for them to showcase their abilities on an international stage, potentially paving the way for future selection to higher levels of the U.S. women's volleyball hierarchy.
