CORPUS CHRISTI, TX --Prairie View A&M received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Panthers fell to the Texas A&M-CC Islanders 10-7 Saturday.
Senior Tyson Carlton (0-3) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (4-7) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from graduate student Brayden Johnson, scoring freshman Sonnier Moses from second base.
The Panthers then held the Islanders scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Prairie View A&M brought home a pair, with one run driven in by senior Mason Heiskell's single, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Panthers.
Prairie View A&M's lead had evaporated by the time the seventh inning arrived and turned into a 10-3 Texas A&M-CC advantage, when the Panthers cut that deficit to 10-6. The Panthers recorded three runs on a single from sophomore Ahmar Donatto.
Prairie View A&M kept the Islanders off the board before narrowing the gap further in the eighth. The Panthers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Marshal Jonas, bringing the score to 10-7 in favor of Texas A&M-CC. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
