All Prairie View A&M starters reach base in 9-5 win against Southern

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX -- Prairie View A&M got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Panthers put nine runs on the board and beat the Southern Jaguars 9-5 Sunday.

Senior Leonardo Bravo (2-1) got the win out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (7-16, 3-1). The right-hander went 2.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits.

At the plate, the Panthers were paced by sophomore Landon Williams, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and three RBI. Sophomore Ahmar Donatto put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI. Senior Trenton Bush also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers were trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Prairie View A&M scratched across a run off freshman Ra. Grace when Donatto tripled in Bush.

The game remained tied until the very next inning, when the Panthers got going again on offense. Senior Mason Heiskell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which brought the Panthers lead to 2-1.

Prairie View A&M held Southern scoreless before building their lead to 3-1 the following inning. The Panthers notched a run on sophomore Jordan Williams' two-out RBI double.

Prairie View A&M surrendered the lead they built in the sixth, but got back on the scoreboard in the seventh trailing 5-3. The Panthers scored four runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run error off the bat of Donatto and a two-run single from Bush, bringing the score to 7-5 in favor of Prairie View A&M.

The Panthers held Southern off the board before expanding their lead to 9-5 the following inning. Prairie View A&M scored twice on sophomore L. Williams' two-run homer. The score remained 9-5 for the rest of the game, as the Panthers coasted to the win.
