AUSTIN, Texas-The Prairie View A&M Panthers had a tough showing on Tuesday, falling to the No. 1 Texas Longhorns by a final score of 11-2.
Junior Isaac Herrera (0-1) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (11-32) and took the loss. Junior Beau Beaty was a bright spot for the Panthers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one shutout inning, allowing one hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from senior Jayden Williams, scoring sophomore Michael Smith from third base.
The Longhorns expanded their lead to 9-1 before the Panthers' offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the eighth. Prairie View A&M scored once on an RBI single off the bat of freshman Sonnier Moses, which tightened the Longhorns' lead to 9-2. The Panthers could not get any closer, as Texas added two runs to their tally on the way to an 11-2 final.
