Bowie homers twice in Prairie View A&M's 6-3 win over Alcorn State

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Freshman Mac Bowie put together a brilliant performance at the plate Sunday, hitting two homers to help propel the Prairie View A&M Panthers over the Alcorn State Braves 6-3.

Senior Leonardo Bravo (3-1) got the win for Prairie View A&M (12-32, 8-11). The right-hander went 7.1 innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on seven hits, allowing three walks and striking out five. Senior Seve Medrano also pitched well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.

Bowie went 2-for-3 at the plate, supplementing his two home runs with two RBIs. Sophomore Landon Williams added to Bowie's awesome power-hitting performance by going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI along with one walk. Senior Jayden Williams also chipped in for the Panthers, going 3-for-4 with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting two runs on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Senior Brayden Johnson drove in two runs for Prairie View A&M with a single, that scored freshman Sonnier Moses and senior Jayden Williams.

The Panthers then held the Braves scoreless before expanding their lead in the sixth inning. Prairie View A&M scored three times, with an output that included home runs from both sophomore Landon Williams and Bowie, which brought the score to 5-0 in favor of the Panthers.

Alcorn State narrowed Prairie View A&M's lead to 5-3 before the Panthers stretched the advantage to 6-3 in the eighth inning. The Panthers added a run on Bowie's two-out solo home run off freshman Kanious Davis. The score remained 6-3 for the rest of the game, as Prairie View A&M held on for the win.
