Williams racks up 4 hits in Prairie View A&M's 13-7 victory over Alcorn State

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Sophomore Landon Williams racked up four hits to help propel the Prairie View A&M Panthers over the Alcorn State Braves 13-7 on Sunday.

Junior Isaac Herrera (1-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (13-32, 9-11). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on nine hits, allowing one walk and striking out five.

In addition to his four hits, Williams had a home run and two RBI to lead the Panthers. Sophomore Ahmar Donatto put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-6 with a double, a home run, and four RBI. Senior Brayden Johnson also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double, two walks, and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the first inning. Prairie View A&M's offense started clicking and put up seven runs, including a three-run double off the bat of Donatto.

After the Braves rallied to tie the ballgame at seven, the Panthers came back to retake the lead in the sixth inning. The Prairie View A&M offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run double off the bat of sophomore Cameron Franklin, which brought the Panthers' lead to 11-7.

Prairie View A&M kept Alcorn State scoreless before building their lead to 13-7 in the following inning. The Panthers added two to their tally on Williams' two-run homer to. The score remained 13-7 for the rest of the game, as Prairie View A&M coasted to the win.
