PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers took a 1-0 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hold on and fell 2-1 to the Southern Jaguars Monday.
Senior Halley Elizarraras (3-1) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (17-17, 11-3) and took the loss. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the fifth inning. Junior Dyani McKinley came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Southern scored two times over the remaining two innings to grab the 2-1 win.
