The Prairie View A&M women's track and field team competed on the first day of the SWAC Outdoor Championships at A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Highlighting the day's events were a series of personal records and qualifications to finals by Prairie View A&M athletes.
Lashavia Barclay advanced to the finals in the 400mh, clocking an impressive time of 1:02.86. In the 10000m race,
Christina Fitzpatrick secured the 5th place with a personal best of 40:24.48, while
Kamara Bradley grabbed the 8th spot with her personal record of 43:04.98. The field events also saw Panthers' athletes stepping up, with
Michaela Booker achieving an 8th place finish in the javelin throw reaching 34.09 meters and
Savoria Anderson taking 6th place in long jump with a personal best of 5.71 meters.
A standout performance came from
Sanai Kintchen in the heptathlon. On the first day, she currently leads with a total of 2953 points. Kintchen showcased her versatility by finishing 1st in the 100m hurdles at 14.71 seconds, 6th in the high jump clearing 1.50 meters, 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 12.27 meters, and 6th in the 200m sprint at 26.28 seconds. Her performance positioned her as a strong contender going into the final day.
After the day's fierce competition, the Prairie View A&M Panthers are currently sitting in 7th. With preliminary rounds continuing tomorrow and the finals slated for the Tuesday, the stage is set for the Panthers to possibly climb higher in the standings. Further details and
