Prairie View, Texas (June 27, 2025) — Prairie View A&M University Athletic Department announces the resignation of Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach Mesha Levister, who has accepted the position of Director of Men's and Women's Golf at North Carolina A&T. Coach Levister departs Prairie View after a successful three-year tenure that elevated the program both athletically and academically.

Coach Levister leaves Prairie View A&M as a trailblazer and mentor who made a significant impact on and off the course. In 2023, she was named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Golf Coach of the Year after guiding the women's team to a second-place finish at the SWAC Championship. During her tenure, Levister coached nine student-athletes to All-SWAC honors and fostered academic excellence, with the men's team maintaining a GPA of 3.1 or higher each semester under her leadership.

"We are deeply grateful to Coach Levister for her dedication to our student-athletes and her role in advancing our golf programs," said Prairie View A&M Director of Athletics Anton Goff. "She is a dynamic leader who inspired excellence in every aspect of the student-athlete experience. We wish her the very best as she returns to her home state and embraces this historic opportunity."

As Prairie View A&M University Athletic Department begins the search for a new head coach to lead both golf programs, the department of athletics extends its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Coach Levister for her leadership, commitment, and vision.
