PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — The Prairie View A&M University baseball team will officially open the 2026 season on a national stage as the Panthers, under the direction of first-year head coach Daniel Dulin and his staff, take part in the HBCU Power Series, a multi-day Historically Black Colleges and Universities baseball showcase held in conjunction with Major League Baseball, February 12–15 at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi.

The opening-weekend event will bring six tradition-rich HBCU baseball programs together for a weekend of high-level competition, celebration, and exposure inside a professional ballpark setting. Prairie View A&M will join Texas Southern, Alabama A&M, Grambling State, Jackson State, and Alcorn State in the season-opening showcase.

The HBCU Power Series will feature three days of games, Friday through Sunday (February 13–15), with three game time slots each day. All contests will be nine innings and played with a 10-run rule, creating a true collegiate showcase environment while enhancing the fan experience.

The event officially begins on Thursday, February 12, with a non-game opening day dedicated to team arrivals, workouts, media opportunities, and ceremonial moments that highlight the pride, tradition, and culture of HBCU athletics.

Trustmark Park, home of the Mississippi Mud Monsters of the Frontier League (an MLB Partner League), will serve as host site for the event. The Mud Monsters were selected in recognition of the ballpark's professional-caliber facilities and the organization's commitment to hosting inclusive, community-centered baseball events.

Fans attending the HBCU Power Series can expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with school colors, music, pageantry, and marquee HBCU match ups as the Panthers begin their 2026 campaign.
