Lady Panthers Secure 3-0 Sweep Over Southern

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --The Prairie View A&M volleyball team earned a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-19, 25-12) over the Southern Lady Jaguars Friday at home at Baby Dome.

The win moved the Lady Panthers' record to 2-14 overall and 2-1 in SWAC action.

The Lady Panthers attack was paced by D'Mya Hill, who finished with 10 kills on the day, and by Iyonna Sherwood, who had 10 while hitting .625. got 14 digs from Camille Middleton to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Lady Panthers endured a back-and-forth first set to win 25-21 in a stanza that featured five lead changes and was tied nine times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match. Prairie View A&M also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.

SET 2 | Prairie View A&M took the second set 25-19 to quickly take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Panthers grabbed control of the set lead early on at 3-2 and held the lead the rest of the way. Prairie View A&M opened its biggest lead of the stanza, six points, to finish off the set, totaling 17 kills in the set.

SET 3 | Prairie View A&M took set three to finish off the match. The Lady Panthers took the set 25-12 helped by a solid performance on the attacking side. Prairie View A&M put together a .360 attack percentage with 12 kills in the set win. The Lady Panthers ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza.
