PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — Prairie View A&M University baseball officially opens the 2026 season on Friday, February 13, as the Panthers take part in the HBCU Power Series, a multi-day Historically Black Colleges and Universities baseball showcase hosted at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi.
The season-opening event marks the debut of first-year head coach Daniel Dulin and his staff, as Prairie View A&M begins a new chapter on a national stage inside a professional baseball venue. The HBCU Power Series is held in conjunction with Major League Baseball and features six prominent HBCU programs competing over opening weekend.
While games will be played Friday through Sunday, the opening day on Thursday will focus on team arrivals, workouts, media opportunities, and ceremonial events celebrating the pride, tradition, and culture of HBCU athletics. The day sets the tone for the weekend and the Panthers' 2026 campaign.
Prairie View A&M will be joined in the showcase by Texas Southern, Alabama A&M, Grambling State, Jackson State, and Alcorn State. All games during the series will be nine innings with a 10-run rule, providing a true collegiate baseball atmosphere while enhancing the fan experience.
Trustmark Park, home of the Mississippi Mud Monsters of the Frontier League (an MLB Partner League), serves as the host site. The venue provides Prairie View A&M with a professional backdrop as the Panthers open the season against familiar conference and regional opponents.
Fans can expect a festive opening-weekend environment filled with school colors, music, pageantry, and marquee HBCU matchups as Prairie View A&M begins the 2026 season.
