Scouting Stetson
The Hatters (7-10) enter Wednesday's matchup riding momentum after a historic road victory over the No. 5 Arkansas Razorbacks baseball on Monday at Baum-Walker Stadium.
Stetson Hatters defeated Arkansas 6-4, securing a split in the four-game series and marking one of the most significant road wins during the tenure of head coach Steve Trimper. The victory also gave the Hatters back-to-back wins over a ranked opponent and marked the first time under Trimper that Stetson has defeated Top-10 teams in consecutive games.
Senior pitcher Connor Ball led the way on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings of relief while allowing just one unearned run on five hits, striking out eight and issuing no walks. Offensively, Yohann Dessureault powered the lineup with a three-run home run, while Juan De la Cruz added two hits and an RBI.
Stetson struck early with four runs in the first inning and later added insurance runs in the fourth before closing the door defensively. The Hatters' pitching staff also limited Arkansas to 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Wednesday's contest marks the Hatters' final non-conference game before the start of ASUN Conference play.
