Prairie View A&M's women's track and field team is set for a split weekend at two of the state's notable early April meets, competing at the Texas Relays in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos from April 2-4. The Texas Relays, held at Mike Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus, gives the Panthers a chance to measure themselves in one of the sport's marquee meets, while the Bobcat Invitational at the Texas State Track and Field Complex offers additional opportunities across the roster.
The Texas Relays entry list gives Prairie View A&M several clear storylines. Mikyah McDonald is scheduled for the 100 meters and Kimora Maxey and Lashavia Barclay are entered in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles Nina Story is slated for the 800 meters, Christina Ftizpatrick is entered in the 5,000 meters, and Michaela Booker will represent the Panthers in the shot put.
Relay events should also be central to Prairie View A&M's weekend. The Panthers are entered in the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x800 relays at Texas Relays, a mix that highlights both sprint depth and middle-distance versatility. The sprint relays often turn on exchanges as much as raw speed, making execution a key factor, while the 4x800 will ask Prairie View A&M to balance pace and positioning over a longer race. In a meet known for loaded fields, those events can offer some of the clearest indicators of team sharpness.
The multi-meet format should allow Prairie View A&M to spread its lineup and chase strong performances in a range of events over three days.
For followers of the program, the weekend also comes with access points beyond the track, as the Texas Relays will provide live results and a live stream, while the Bobcat Invitational will offer live results.
