Prairie View A&M Women's Track Place Fifth at SWAC Outdoor Championships

Prairie View A&M's women track and field turned in a points-heavy weekend at the SWAC Outdoor Championships, finishing fifth with 78.5 points at A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Panthers were led by Sanai Kintchen, who won the heptathlon with a personal-best 4,886 points, and the team added scoring performances across the jumps, sprints, middle distance and throws during the May 10-12 meet.

Kintchen set the tone for Prairie View A&M with the heptathlon victory, while Kimora Maxey added a fourth-place finish in the same event with 4,430 points. Kintchen also scored in the shot put, taking sixth at 12.51 meters. In the vault, Jaliyah Gray cleared a personal-best 3.21 meters to finish second, and Aliyah Linton and Savonya Collins added more team points by tying the event's lower scoring places, each clearing 2.76 meters for sixth and seventh, respectively.

The Panthers also found consistent production in the field events. Raina Thomas placed fourth in the high jump at 1.62 meters, and Mariah Turner was sixth at 1.57 meters. Jada Stanford added a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.28 meters. In the shot put, Michaela Booker joined Kintchen among the scorers by placing eighth with a throw of 12.32 meters.

On the track, Prairie View A&M's 4x100-meter relay team of Starrmia Dixon, Mikyah McDonald, Lashavia Barclay and Nikiyah Williams placed fifth in 45.81 seconds. Williams also took sixth in the 400 meters in 54.66, and McDonald finished eighth in the 200-meter final in 24.39. Treasure Bethea placed fifth in the 800 meters in 2:16.51, while Nina Story was sixth in the 800 in 2:17.45 and also taking fourth in the 1,500 meters in 4:55.19.

Prairie View A&M added more distance points as Lea Murphy placed sixth in the 1,500 meters in 4:58.40 and finished eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best 12:13.91. Meagan Meyers was ninth in the 1,500 at 5:03.38, and Christina Fitzpatrick delivered a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters in 18:51.52.

Across a large championship field, the Panthers built their fifth-place finish with scoring efforts in nearly every event group, capped by Kintchen's title and several personal-best performances.
