The Prairie View A&M University women's cross country team continued its upward trajectory during the 2025 season, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Fla.
Leading the Panthers throughout the season was junior Lea Murphy, who capped off her campaign with a 16th-place finish at the conference championship in a time of 20:00.4. Christina Fitzpatrick followed closely behind, placing 18th in 20:20.6, while Maya Clark finished 21st with a time of 20:35.6. Meagan Meyers crossed the line in 20:39.5, Aida Kane-Diallo recorded a time of 21:05.5, Nina Story finished in 21:10.9, and Treasure Bethea rounded out the Panther lineup with a time of 23:41.5.
The Panthers saw significant individual growth throughout the season, with several athletes recording personal-best performances in the 5K. Clark posted a personal-record time of 19:53.3, while Kane-Diallo lowered her mark to 20:55.5. Meyers broke the 20-minute barrier with a personal best of 19:52.3, and Story recorded a PR of 20:38.4.
Murphy and Fitzpatrick also delivered outstanding performances throughout the year, posting the team's fastest times of the season. Murphy recorded a season-best 19:13.8, while Fitzpatrick turned in a season-best mark of 19:57.6.
The Panthers' success was also recognized by the conference office as Murphy earned SWAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors during the season. Meyers was named SWAC Women's Cross Country Newcomer of the Week after a strong start to her collegiate career.
With a combination of experienced leadership and emerging talent, Prairie View A&M demonstrated steady progress throughout the 2025 campaign. The Panthers' fourth-place conference finish, multiple weekly award winners, and numerous personal-record performances provide a strong foundation as the program looks ahead to continued success in future seasons.
