The Prairie View A&M women's track team received a first-place performance from its 4x100-meter relay squad this past weekend at the Texas State Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.
The 4x100-meter relay “A” team of Keely Hill, Myesha Dixon, Terracia Moody and Shaleetha Jackson ran a season-low time of 46.05 to win the event while the “B” team of Chantelle Hamilton, Brandalyn Williams, Monique Green and Khadijah Cudjoe placed third in a time of 47.97
Dixon returned to the track and ran a personal-best 13.35 to place second in the 100-meter hurdles followed by Kia Allen's career-low and third-place time of 14.76 in the same event. Jackson finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 12.01 while Sylvonna Thompson placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.58. Leticia Bustamente placed third in the 1,500-meter run with a mark of 4:48.7.
Rose Sampson had a strong weekend with a personal best and third-place finish in the javelin (33.44 meters) and a third-place showing in the shot put (12.35 meters).
The Lady Panthers will return to the track in two weeks and participate in the 2013 SWAC Outdoor Invitational in New Orleans, La. beginning on Friday, April 19.
