• The Panthers step back into SWAC play this weekend as they'll face Alabama A&M in their home opener in Waller, Texas.

• Saturday's contest will be streamed live on YouTube with live audio on KPVU 91.3 FM.

• The Willie Simmons era makes its home debut as the Panthers will face Alabama A&M on Saturday.  The Panthers are on a two-game winning streak over AAMU dating back to 2013.

• The SWAC honored sophomore linebacker Jalan Coleman as its Newcomer of the Week last week after leading the Panthers in tackles at Texas State.

• Saturday's game marks the 19th meeting in series history as AAMU leads 10-8.  PVAMU is 8-2 over AAMU dating back to 2006.

• PVAMU established a presence in 2006 with six straight wins from 2006-2010. When AAMU entered the SWAC, the teams normally met in September but the conference schedule shifted the matchup to the month of November from 2004-2011. Both teams returned to playing in September in 2012 and 2013 before moving back to November in 2014. When playing in the month of September, AAMU holds a 5-1 advantage with PVAMU's lone September win occurring in 2013 in Prairie View, Texas.

• The Panthers play eight games inside the state of Texas this season and won't leave the state until a contest at Southern on Oct. 17.

• As the offensive coordinator at Alcorn State, head coach Willie Simmons was 2-1 versus AAMU and 1-0 against AAMU's James Spady.

• Five players were named to the 2015 All-SWAC Preseason Team while Prairie View A&M was picked third in the SWAC West in the annual SWAC Preseason Poll.
