GRAMBLING, LA -- The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers triumphed in a league volleyball face-off against Grambling, clinching a clean sweep with a 3-0 victory, in Grambling, La. Sunday at Fredrick C Hobdy Assembly Center.

This win strengthens the Lady Panthers' record to 8-13 overall and a robust 5-1 SWAC conference record. The Lady Panthers showcased a strong performance throughout the three sets, starting with a decisive 25-17 in the first set and tighter victories of 25-21 and 25-23 in the subsequent sets.

D'Mya Hill led the charge with a powerful display, landing 13 kills and serving up four aces, a key factor in the team's dominant performance. D'Mya's most notable play was a decisive kill facilitated by a setup from Leah Lawson, who also had a standout game with 22 assists in addition to Hill, Kylee Owens was pivotal with 12 kills and 12 digs, complemented by Aliyah Levert who contributed 7 kills and 4 blocks.  The Prairie View A&M volleyball team racked up 12 blocks

The defensive efforts were bolstered by Janyah Henderson who topped the team's blocking stats with 6 blocks. Leila Smalls led the digs and contributed a high of 18 digs.  Looking forward, the Lady Panthers are set to face UAPB in Pine Bluff, Ark., on Monday, October 14, 2024.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Prairie View A&M put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-21 victory in set number two. The Lady Panthers grabbed the advantage for good at 18-17after erasing a five-point deficit, the Lady Tigers largest lead of the set. This came in a set that featured eight ties and five lead changes. Prairie View A&M's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Grambling attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 10 Grambling attacking errors on the way to victory.

SET 3 | Prairie View A&M closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after winning set three. The Lady Panthers survived a back-and-forth set to win 25-23 in a stanza that featured five lead changes and was tied 12 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than four points along the way. The Lady Panthers racked up 18 kills over the course of the set.
