LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Freshman Michael Smith went 2-for-4 for the Prairie View A&M Panthers in a 12-2 loss to the New Mexico State Aggies on Sunday.
Freshman Preston Allen (0-0) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (6-10). Junior Leonardo Bravo was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit.
In the batter's box, the Panthers were paced by Smith, who went 2-for-4 on the day. Freshman Garland Parker compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a double. Junior Lee Allen also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 8-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Prairie View A&M managed to push across two runs in the inning. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as New Mexico State added four runs to their tally on the way to a 12-2 final.
