Prairie View A&M put together an eight-play, 25-yard scoring drive, culminating in a 44-yard field goal from with 14:54 remaining in the ballgame to give the Panthers a 13-12 win over Alcorn State on Saturday afternoon at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium.
The Panthers improved to 4-2 on the year and 3-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Braves fell to 0-5 and 0-2.
Cameron Peters led all Panthers rushers with 66 yards in the contest, picking up 6 yards per carry. also added Lamagea McDowell 51 yards on the ground, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.
The most prolific target for Prairie View A&M quarterbacks was Jyzaiah Rockwell, who caught seven passes for 45 yards.
Eric Zachery showed out for the Prairie View A&M defense, recording three tackles and one interception. Matthew Moore added four tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one sack and Malik Gucake had 1.0 TFL and one sack in the win.
The Panthers won the turnover battle in Saturday's game, forcing one turnover while avoiding any giveways.
