Prairie View A&M leaves 10 on base in 3-2 loss to Texas Southern

HOUSTON, Texas --Though they had plenty of opportunities, Prairie View A&M struggled to cash them in, leaving 10 Panthers on base in a 3-2 setback at the hands of the Texas Southern Tigers on Saturday.

Senior Leonardo Bravo (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (1-1). The right-hander went four innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.

In the batter's box, the Panthers were led by sophomore Landon Williams, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and an RBI. Junior Michael Burroughs put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Senior Mason Heiskell also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Prairie View A&M got on the board thanks to Williams' RBI double with one out.

The Tigers then rallied to score two runs and take a 2-1 lead before the Panthers got back on the board in the fifth. Prairie View A&M scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Burroughs, which evened the score at 2-2. Texas Southern then scored one time over the remaining four innings to break the tie and grab the 3-2 win.
