Prairie View A&M breaks through late tie for 11-6 victory over North Carolina Central in 7

GAME 2 | Prairie View A&M 11, North Carolina Central 6

COVINGTON, Ga. --The Prairie View A&M Panthers broke through after a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning to knock off the North Carolina Central Eagles 11-6 Saturday.

Senior Cailin Massey (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Prairie View A&M (6-4). The right-hander went six innings, giving up six runs, all of them earned, on six hits. Freshman Brielle Moreno also made an impact in the circle for the Panthers, throwing one shutout inning while allowing one hit, with no walks and one strikeout.

Offensively, the Panthers were led by junior Mia Nunez, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Sophomore Reagan Green put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Junior Dyani McKinley also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Prairie View A&M picked up a pair of runs in the frame.

The game remained tied until the sixth inning when the Panthers got going again on offense. Prairie View A&M picked up two runs, including one on a solo round-tripper off the bat of Nunez, which brought the Panthers lead to 4-2.

Prairie View A&M kept North Carolina Central without a run before expanding their lead to 11-2 the following inning. The Panthers bats heated up in the inning, scoring seven runs, including a two-run single off the bat of McKinley. North Carolina Central put four runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Prairie View A&M still coasted to the 11-6 win.
