GAME 1 | Prairie View A&M 8, South Dakota 4
COMMERCE, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers fought back from down 4-2 in the fifth inning to beat the South Dakota Coyotes 8-4 Saturday.
Senior Cailin Massey (2-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (6-4). The right-hander went 4.1 shutout innings while giving up five hits, allowing one walk and striking out one.
At the plate, the Panthers were paced by freshman Kearstin Tinsley, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a walk and an RBI. Junior Mia Nunez put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Reagan Green also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from Green, scoring Tinsley from third base.
The Coyotes failed to push any runs across before the Panthers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Sophomore Lainey Niederhofer came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which brought the Panthers lead to 2-0.
Prairie View A&M's lead had evaporated once the sixth inning arrived and turned into a 4-2 South Dakota advantage, when the Panthers re-gained control at 8-4. The Panthers bats heated up in the inning, scoring six runs, including a one-run double off the bat of Nunez. The score remained 8-4 for the rest of the game, as Prairie View A&M coasted to the win.

COMMERCE, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers put together a valiant effort on Saturday, but ultimately came up short, losing to the South Dakota Coyotes by the score of 4-1.
Senior Madalyne Martinez (3-2) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (6-5) and took the loss. Senior Halley Elizarraras was a bright spot for the Panthers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing three shutout innings, allowing one hit, with two walks and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the second inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from senior Hannah Garza, scoring junior Dyani McKinley from second base. South Dakota then scored three times over the remaining five innings to break the tie and grab the 4-1 win.
