GAME 1 | Prairie View A&M 7, Texas Southern 5
PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Junior Mia Nunez racked up four RBIs to help propel the Prairie View A&M Panthers past the Texas Southern Tigers 7-5 on Saturday.
Senior Cailin Massey (4-3) started in the circle and picked up the win for Prairie View A&M (9-12, 3-1). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up five runs, all of them earned, on nine hits, allowing three walks and striking out two.
Nunez went 1-for-4 in addition to her four RBIs for the Panthers. Freshman Kearstin Tinsley compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Junior Nya Brown also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Prairie View A&M managed to push across two runs in the inning.
The Tigers failed to push any runs across before the Panthers built on their lead in the third inning. Brown came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which brought the Panthers lead to 3-0.
Texas Southern clawed back to tie the ballgame at three before Prairie View A&M reclaimed a 6-3 advantage in the fifth inning. The Panthers scored three runs in the frame, two of them coming across on a two-run single off the bat of Nunez.
The Tigers gained ground, closing the gap to 6-5 until Prairie View A&M added some insurance in the sixth. The Panthers sent home a run when Tinsley drew a walk that scored junior Dyani McKinley, bringing the score to 7-5 in favor of Prairie View A&M. The score remained 7-5 for the rest of the game, as the Panthers held on for the win.

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 6-2 win against the Texas Southern Tigers on Saturday.
Freshman Brielle Moreno (5-3) got the win for Prairie View A&M (10-12, 4-1). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, zero earned, on five hits, allowing five walks and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless.
The Panthers then held the Tigers scoreless before expanding their lead in the third inning. Prairie View A&M pushed across a run on junior Dyani McKinley's one-out RBI double, which brought the Panthers lead to 4-0.
Prairie View A&M kept Texas Southern without a run before building their lead to 6-0 the following inning. The Panthers scored twice, with one run coming across on sophomore Reagan Green's single. Texas Southern put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Prairie View A&M still coasted to the 6-2 win.
