GULFPORT, Miss. --Though they had plenty of opportunities, Prairie View A&M struggled to cash them in, leaving 10 Panthers on base in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Thursday.
Senior Madalyne Martinez (3-6) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (28-21) and took the loss. Senior Halley Elizarraras was a bright spot for the Panthers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 3-0 in the seventh inning when they first put runs on the board. Prairie View A&M managed to push across two runs in the inning. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
